Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
