Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
