Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
