Bad Luck in Poker

For a game where the majority of players occasionally consider fortune, there are tons of folklore in poker. When you say that an individual was lucky in that poker tournament they won, be careful of how you mention it. For instance, if you mention that you were unlucky, your luck may not change.

Ok, that may sound a bit strange, but poker is a casino game loaded with superstitions. Did you know that if you are playing a game with 2 different decks and you are asked to choose the deck, you should always choose the deck of cards that is furthest from you? Or, how about If you have a run of poor cards, you must hang out on a hankerchief to break your poor luck? It’s actually considered good luck to blow through a deck of cards when they’re being mixed up.

Some other interesting poker superstitions are:

  • You might be able to change the run of cards by walking around your chair three times.
  • The most beneficial chair at the poker table looks at the door.
  • The most detrimental seat has its back to a fireplace.
  • When altering spots, you really should constantly do so following the clock.
  • The most detrimental poker card is the four of clubs.
  • It’s very unlucky to cross your legs when sitting at the poker table.
  • Friday is a poor day for playing cards.
  • The 13th is also a horrible day, despite when it falls.
